FAQs

How do I prepare for a facial service?

One of the most important things to do is, well, nothing. You’ll get far better results from your facial if you cease any sort of exfoliation 5 days ahead of time (this includes AHAs, retinols/retinoids, scrubs, and enzymes, as well as facial brushes and rough sponges or cloths). Overexfoliation is one of the biggest problems we see these days, and we’d love to be able to have more options to treat you to during your facial service. You are a canvas of sorts while you’re in our care. Clients often apologize to us for wearing makeup in, and please know that it’s 100% fine if you come in with a “full face” on—the first thing we’re going to do is double-cleanse you, anyway. Additionally, please exercise prior to your appointment rather than afterwards. Of the services we provide and techniques we use, many are designed to calm your skin down by the end of the service and may even require it to stay calm for 24-48 hours, so increasing the blood flow through exercise or excess heat does the exact opposite. Other than that, please just be honest and open on your health intake form. The more information we have, the better, and we’ve tried to cover every base that would pertain to us giving you the best, most effective service that we can provide.

How do I prepare for a massage or body treatment?

One of the best things you can do is hydrate your body, so drink a lot of water before and especially after your appointment. Ideally, you’ll steer clear of caffeine and alcohol for the 24 hours after your appointment. We suggest exercising prior to your appointment rather than afterwards. Other than that, please just be honest and open on your health intake form. The more information we have, the better, and we’ve tried to cover every base that would pertain to us giving you the best, most effective service that we can provide.

Can Repose Spa Studio accommodate groups?

There is only one treatment room at Repose Spa Studio so Laura and Amy work an alternating schedule. We can certainly cater to two people coming in at a time and performing back-to-back services, but whoever isn’t receiving at the time is generally relaxing in the waiting area. (And it’s not a bad place to relax if we do say so ourselves! Aromatherapy and soothing music are provided, and we can always turn the sofa into a daybed and give you a blanket and a cup of hot tea to get cozy with. Take a nap, read a book, and/or you’re even welcome to take a shower.) With enough planning, we may be able to get another therapist in to provide chair massage and/or some other service out in the waiting area, so please do contact Laura if this is something you’re interested in. 2+ months notice is generally needed to find the right day to make that work.
